| For most music boxes, you can use the usual carriers,
such as UPS, FedX, and the Post Office. When preparing a music box
for shipping, let all of the spring tension off of the main spring.
Just let the unit play all the way down until it will not play any
longer. Then slide a piece of folded paper between the blades of the
governor, (air brake) assembly, so it can't move during shipping.
Place some bubble wrap or wadded up newspaper inside of the glass
lid, so the glass can't vibrate and break. Place the whole box
inside of a large plastic bag and then, using packaging tape, wrap
the box securely in both directions. The bag will keep the tape from
sticking to any of the decals, veneer, or finish on the case, while
securing the cabinet at the same time.
